Demons

The novel "Demons" by F. M. Dostoevsky is one of the greatest achievements of world culture - it accurately and deeply outlined the fault lines of future social catastrophes. The First World War, the Russian Revolution, the global catastrophe of the Second World War and our days have confirmed his prophecies about what awaits a society that has abolished the centuries-old moral foundations on which it stands.

In this precarious state, people lose the ability to distinguish between good and evil. Attempts at radical reorganization of society, spiritual and moral blindness, lead to catastrophe and madness. Each time, from the tectonic shifts of history, like a genie from a lamp, demons come into the world, promising help in the fulfillment of supposedly great achievements, in reality generated by them, human whims.

And, at the same time, the hope expressed in the epigraph of the novel: “the inhabitants went out to see what had happened, and when they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had come out, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind, and they were horrified.”

Anyone who reads this work is vaccinated against mindlessly following the next destructive slogans.
