Jewish Literary Tales

The most important part of Yiddish literature is the literary fairy tale, in which the traditions of medieval book writing and folklore motifs are combined with the avant-garde trends of the twentieth century. This fusion gives the Jewish fairy tale a special, unique originality. This collection includes works by classics of Jewish literature - Yitzhak Leibush Peretz, Manya Leib, Itsik Manger, as well as writers little known in Russia: the mystic Der Nister, the folklorist Ansky, the modernist Moishe Broderzon.
