It seems that in the 19th century, the most writers graduated from medical institutes. Anton Pavlovich Chekhov perfectly illustrates this joke. The recognized master of subtle, and most importantly, short, humorous short stories started out as a district doctor and sometimes saw patients absolutely free of charge if they had no money. A little later, he became interested in psychiatry. Many stories from his private life and practice migrated to the pages of his works.
