In the autumn of 1830, while in a three-month cholera quarantine in Boldino, Alexander Pushkin created his innovative cycle, The Tales of the Late Ivan Petrovich Belkin. In the process of writing, he also formulated his main rule in prose: to write clearly, briefly, and distinctly. The narrator, the fictional landowner Ivan Petrovich Belkin, left us five stories, each of which reflects its own literary style. Thus, The Shot is romanticism, The Snowstorm, The Stationmaster, and The Young Lady-Peasant are sentimentalism, and The Undertaker is a Gothic story. The book also includes the historical novel The Blackamoor of Peter the Great and Pushkin's travelogue Journey to Arzrum During the Campaign of 1829.
