"Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka" is the first collection of stories by N. V. Gogol. It was published in 1831-1832 and brought the author sudden fame. Famous writers welcomed the rising star of Russian literature. A. S. Pushkin, amazed by the talent of the young writer, spoke enthusiastically about the book: "Here is real gaiety, sincere, relaxed, without affectation, without stiffness. And in places, what poetry! What sensitivity!" This collection turned out to be Gogol's brightest book, beloved by many generations of readers.
