Alexander Sergeevich Griboyedov (1795-1829) - a hereditary nobleman, a brilliant diplomat, poet, playwright, pianist and composer - became famous as the author of the immortal comedy in verse "Woe from Wit". Many people today still recite the bright aphorisms from this work, without even suspecting their origin: "Happy people do not watch the clock", "Oh, evil tongues are more terrible than a pistol", "The legend is fresh, but hard to believe", "Blessed is he who believes, he is warm in this world" and others. The main character of the play - a young man named Chatsky, honest, noble and enlightened - treats conservative society with contempt. However, his independent thinking and fresh ideas contradict the generally accepted rules. For ossified philistines, such freethinking is equivalent to madness, woe from wit. Those around him are in a hurry to declare "war" on Chatsky.
